CAMP CAROLINA
July 9 - August 17, 2012
Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Camp Carolina is a six-week, intensive skills workshop designed
to prepare incoming journalism and mass communications graduate students
for advanced, graduate-level courses. The workshop is also designed
to provide concentrated study for those individuals who hold a baccalaureate
degree in another field and do not wish to pursue a graduate degree
but seek to enhance their field of study with journalism and mass
communications skills.
When you enter the job market, you will be competing for jobs against
undergraduate degree recipients who have the vital skills employers
are seeking. If you become a Camp Carolina student you will have
a significant head start on acquiring those skills yourself.
Today an effective communicator requires a professional competency
of the written word and an understanding of the theories and skills
in visual communication. Your ability to deliver a powerful message
in print, video and other media will improve the success of your
career.
We call it "Camp Carolina" because it provides the kind
of basic training that every mass communications practitioner will
need now and in years to come. But it's not exactly boot camp. You'll
be working with the latest Macintosh computers and telecommunications
equipment in a professional setting. We'll even get together for
a party or two!
There's a special bond that develops among Camp Carolina participants.
That same bond develops between the "Campers" and their
instructors because the students accomplish so much in so little
time.
