Wade
earns business journalism scholarship
Cherrelle Wade, a rising
senior majoring in Mass Communications, is the 2013 recipient
of the David J. Morrow Scholarship for Business Journalism.
Wade, a native of Greenville, S.C., is interested in
political reporting and believes the study of business
journalism will help her break news on that beat. “There
is a business aspect involved in politics as well as
every other part of the news,” she said. “If
I want to be a successful in my job, I have to know how
to report business journalism and be knowledgeable of
the basic principles of economics.”
The University of South Carolina School
of Journalism and Mass Communications sent four students
to the Society of American Business Editors and Writers
annual conference. Colin Campbell, Thad Moore, Cherrelle
Wade and Lauren Rountree attended the 50th annual SABEW
event in Washington, D.C.
