
Brett Borton

Brett Borton is a third-year doctoral student and a second-year
graduate instructor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications.
His research interests include sustainability of journalism, newspapers
and community engagement, and communications law.
Originally from Wilmington, Ohio, he received his bachelor's degree
in Journalism from Ohio University in 1981 and returned to academia
to earn a master's degree from USC in 2009. In between, he spent
28 years as a print journalist, a freelance writer and editor, and
an advertising/public relations manager for resort and residential
communities in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
On the weekends, Borton lives on Hilton Head Island, SC with his
wife Sara and twin sons Ian and Evan, who are high school sophomores.
During the week, he shares an apartment in West Columbia with oldest
son Jarrett, a culinary student at USC. In addition to his family
and friends, he is passionate about music, baseball, and college
football (the Ohio State Buckeyes, followed closely by the Gamecocks). |
