Joseph Kasko is currently working on a Ph.D. in the School of Journalism
and Mass Communication at the University of South Carolina. He teaches
broadcast writing and his research interests include public
broadcasting, college radio and politics.
Kasko has worked in broadcasting, both radio and television, for
over 14 years and he has held positions as a host, news anchor, reporter,
operations manager, news director, music director, and station manager.
He currently works part-time at ABC Columbia (WOLO-TV), where he
covers news and sports. Prior to joining WOLO, he served as a reporter
in Media General's Columbia bureau, where he filed stories for the
company’s newspaper and five television stations in South Carolina
and Georgia. Kasko has also hosted and reported for the public radio
affiliate in South Bend, IN, where he filed a number of stories for
NPR and served as a stringer for the network’s sports program,
Only A Game.
Kasko has won numerous awards for his reporting, including a national
Edward R. Murrow Award, in sports reporting, from the Radio and Television
News Directors Association. He also was honored three times as Best
Metro-Radio Reporter, from the Indiana Associated Press, in 2004,
2005, and 2007. |
