A native of Ohio, Klipstine joined the School of Journalism and
Mass Communication in 2002 following some 25 years in corporate public
relations with the General Motors Corporation. Klipstine teaches
courses in public relations principles, writing, campaigns and integrated
communications.
During his career at GM, Klipstine held various managerial positions
including Communications Coordinator for the GM/Toyota joint venture,
New United Motor, Director Communications for the GMC Truck
Division and Director of Communications for GM’s North American
Operations and Worldwide Purchasing. Klipstine’s professional
experience includes corporate media relations, internal communications,
financial relations, international communications, community relations,
speech writing and product promotion. Klipstine’s academic
interests centers on usability research and writing for the electronic
media.
Klipstine is an active member in the South Carolina chapter of PRSA
and the International Association of Business Communicators. Klipstine
is also the faculty advisor for USC’s PRSSA and IABC student
chapters.
